Well, Gee its only been about a Year since I wrote in here! -.-
I've been done with school for almost 2 years now and have been very fortunate to find a job where I live. Since I'm out of the school life, which gave me mucho "me" time to do things such as making chibis, time has really been cut to nothing. I still like making the chibis and wish I could still pump those babies out at 1-2 a day. But since I haven't even finished watching 1 single anime last year making chibis will be even fewer. Just putting it out there so ppl won't expect much anymore, but don't get your hopes down cause I have new plans. . .
While I'll still throw a chibi out there once in a while and Halloween will always show what mischievous pumpkins I'm doing; I was thinking of showcasing some of my kites I make. Whaaa!? Kites!? Yeah. I make my own kites out of ripstop nylon. Design on CAD sytems then bought and cut and ermm ahem, sewn together. One quick note to make is that with my insatiable appetite for bigger and bigger, these kites are big. I'm mean really big. We're talking the size of cars up to the size of small homes!
As a side job I would love to make these for other ppl. Just enough to cover the cost of fabric and hours in. I'm currently getting ready for our local kite festival coming up April 24th. I've got a bunch of pre-made templates to give to kids to color on. There called paper sled kites. I think the will really enjoy the workshop.
I'm currently finishing a kite (ground display actually) started from last year. Its a humongo fish! I think its about 17-19 feet in diameter. (over two stories) I've got a zipper in the back were I'm going to throw in about 300 ball pit balls and let kids go inside and romp around. (And me too)
Looking into the future, I'm designing a "small" jelly fish kite at 25 feet long. Would rather do a 40 foot one but the material is 4x the amount as the small one. @_@ $450+ I've also designed an "Aku" kite from the cartoon show Samurai Jack. I would love to make that and then move on to trying to make some anime kites. The reason I haven't tried making an anime kite earlier is because of one simple fact. There are no good skin-colored fabrics out there. You have to do your own bleaching and dying. Sounds scary and messy to me. Anyways that's the update for this year. hahaha.
Oh by the way... I've found a wonderful young lady last year who means the world and I love dearly, and that's the real reason why I haven't done a thing! hehehe. ^^
